How to Clean Pinecones

While you don’t have to clear your pinecones earlier than you begin crafting and doing experiments with them, I extremely recommend it as they have a tendency to hold dirt, debris, and small bugs inside of them. It’s very easy to clear pinecones, however you’ll want to make sure you issue this into your project plans because the method does take a little bit of time.

Follow these 5 easy steps to clear your pinecones quickly and effectively!

  1. Remove soiled and particles from pinecones with a small brush
  2. Soak pinecones in a big bowl/bucket of water mixed with 1 cup of vinegar
  3. Remove pinecones from water and vinegar mixture, place on a dry towel, and leave to air dry for a few hours
  4. Preheat oven to 200-250 levels and line a cookie sheet with parchment paper
  5. Place dry pinecones on cookie sheet and bake for 60 minutes, turning at least once

*Remember that oven temperatures can vary, so pay shut consideration to make sure your pinecones don’t overcook!
